Activity does not need to take place all at once – short sessions of 10 to 15 minutes can be built up over the day. At least one hour of activity should be structured and energetic, for example, swimming or playing a game of chase.
Invite the children tear or cut strips of paper and use these to make a collage. Tearing and cutting paper develops fine motor control and eye/hand coordination: They can build with blocks, turn book pages, cut with scissors, and string beads.
Modeling dough or clay: Let children play with clay. They don’t have to make a specific project because the mere activity of kneading the clay strengthens their muscles.
